Coronavirus Update 17th March 2020

A meeting of the management group took place yesterday afternoon and the operation of each part of the business was looked at very carefully from the point of view of first and foremost protecting our staff and then our members. The group felt that it was important to maintain, where practical, the service to our members and to maintain high levels of hygiene within public areas for their protection.

The golf course is open, and we would encourage members to play golf which provides them with fresh air and exercise however whether they should spend time in the clubhouse is a matter for personal consideration. The rule regarding no changing shoes in the car park is suspended for the time being but the clubhouse will remain open and members are asked to take responsibility by washing their hands on entering the clubhouse. Please also be aware of the on-course toilet facility which can be accessed using the code C1234

Members are reminded that they should not shake hands at the end of their round, that they should not touch the flagpoles but putt with the flagpole in the hole and should thoroughly wash their hand upon completion of their round. Rakes and ball washers have also been removed from the course.

Members are reminded that within the clubhouse the recommended 2 metre distance between individuals should be maintained. Towels have been temporarily removed from both the Ladies and Gents toilets as it is not recommended that members should take a shower at the club. Play on the pool table has been banned until further notice.

At this time the Pro shop will remain open and the bar will be open for service during normal clubhouse hours.

Events planned from now until the end of April covering both golf and social have been reviewed and where appropriate formats changed, or events cancelled.

The Greenkeeper's Revenge Competition will still take place but will not be run as a shotgun start. The starter will allocate tee times from 8.00am till 12.30pm to those who have booked to play, and tee times will be emailed out shortly.

We are awaiting direction from the various leagues that our teams are involved in and will update those involved once clarity has been provided.

Knockout competitions should be played as normal within the timescales detailed.

The Mother's Day lunch was considered very carefully, and it was decided to continue with it as the tables booked are throughout the day not all at the same time. Obviously if those who have booked have any concerns regarding any member of their party then they should not attend.

We will also be contacting those who have a private function booked in the period from now until the end of April 2020 to discuss whether their function should go ahead or not.

Dealing with the Coronavirus is ever changing and the club will continue to monitor the situation in the light of advice and instructions from government and will keep the membership updated. In the meantime, please see information below on how to avoid catching or spreading Coronavirus:

  • wash your hands with soap and water often - do this for at least 20 seconds.
  • always wash your hands when you get home or into work.
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards.
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.
