The Men's final this year saw Gordon Sangster, a previous winner, up against Ross McLeish in the final for the first time.

At the start the weather was cold, cloudy with a slight mist.

The first nine holes of the final were halved with both players birdieing holes 6 and 9. Gordon then won holes 10 and 11 to go 2up and at the 15th hole with Ross only a few feet away Gordon sank about a twenty five foot putt for a three and saw Ross miss his short putt to halve the hole to go 3up. Ross responded by winning the seventeenth to reduce the deficit to 2up which was the lunch position.

After lunch with the sun appearing Gordon got off to a fast start by winning the first two holes of the afternoon round and after halving the third an unusual incident occurred on the4th hole. Gordon's ball driven down the LHS of the hole was found by a member following the match nestling in the branches of a tree. He took an unplayable penalty, dropped his ball thirty yards further back in the rough and put his third shot on the green and holed an across the green putt for an unlikely 4. Ross whose ball was only a yard of the LHS of the green took three to get down and lost the hole. Gordon now 5up.

The both had birdies at holes 5 and 6 and halved hole 7. Ross staged a comeback by winning holes 8 and 9 so going into the back nine Gordon was only 3up.

At the 10th hole Ross's drive was in the LH rough approx. thirty yards short of the green whilst Gordon's drive had hit the trees on the RHS of the hole and dropped down some 160 yards from the green in the fairway. Gordon's second shot into less than two feet from the hole for a birdie 3 won the hole and he followed up by winning the 11th to once again establish a 5up lead.

After halving the 12th Gordon secured the win at the 13th and now has a record eight Championship wins on his cv.

Veteran's Final

The Veteran's final this year was played between Raymond Donnelly and Gordon Rennie, both first time participants in the Final. Raymond just scraping in on age having his birthday just in time to compete in this year's Veteran's competition.

Raymond was the eventual winner of this year's final.

Ladies Final

The finalists this year were Lesley Watson and Jane Lees, both previous winners.

In a tight match Lesley came out the winner and has now won the Ladies final seven times. Jane has won it 5 times previously.

Junior Final

The Junior final saw Euan Arbuckle aged 17 and last year's winner up against 11-year-old John Hamilton in the final for the first time. John played very well but Euan was just too strong and retained the Trophy. John has time on his side and will surely win the trophy in the future.

Congratulations to all competitors in this year's events for providing a very high standard of golf.
